Italian enogastronomy is a fundamental element of Italian culture, providing a unique experience for many tourists as it offers a taste of the rich culture and history of the country. The question we asked in this infographic was: how does Italy's enogastronomy position itself in the European context, and who are its main competitors?

The analysis following these questions aims to present data related to luxury and non-luxury tourism in the main European states and highlight the impact of enogastronomy as an attractive element and a factor in tourist spending.
We initially analysed data concerning tourism revenue in Europe, focusing on the comparison between luxury and non-luxury tourism, aiming to visually highlight the economic impact across different regions.
Our attention then shifted to the category of IGP and DOP products, with a particular focus on the product that we consider to be the most representative of luxury enogastronomy, namely wine.
While countries like France and Spain have solidified their gastronomic reputation through effective promotion strategies, Italy has room for improvement in terms of enhancing and communicating its culinary excellences.
